Good music, etc.

I've come across a ton of good music lately that I would definitely recommend. I just wanted to pass it on, 'cause that's what you should do with good music - get it out there for everyone to hear!

There's a bunch of albums from 2005 that I've finally had a chance to listen to, and I have to say that a few of them would have been Top 10 List contenders, had I heard them last year. I've already mentioned Sufjan Stevens' 'Illinois', which gets better and better every time I listen to it. A friend recently gave me a copy of an album by Danish band Mew, called 'And The Glass Handed Kites'. It's outstanding! You'll definitely hear me spin tracks from that album if you're at the club on a Thursday.

Surprisingly, I never had a chance to listen to Broken Social Scene's self-titled album or Supergrass' 'Road To Rouen' until last week. I've now listened to them several times, and can safely say that they're great too, as is the double album from LCD Soundsystem. Instant dance party! My favourite of all these "albums from '05 that I'm hearing in '06" though, has to be Tom Vek's 'We Have Sound'. It's 40 minutes of funky, dancy, soulful tunes. There's a free download of the first single, 'I Ain't Saying My Goodbyes' here: Yeah, you should go get that RIGHT NOW! You won't be disappointed.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention New Order's 'Waiting For The Sirens Call'. It's their first album since 2001, and well worth the wait. And I should also mention that the debut albums from Arctic Monkeys and We Are Scientists are now out; as is the new Cardigans album - and they're all great too.

Whew... so much good music!

I'm at the club on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Tuesday - import bottles stay at $3.75 all night. Thursday of course has $2 domestic bottles and $2 bar shots all night. As if you needed any other reason to come out and dance to good music!

Awards nominations

This is really cool! I've been nominated for couple of local awards - Best Live DJ with both the London Music Awards and the Jack Richardson Music Awards.

If you like what I've been spinning as well, and you want to show some love by voting for me, here's the links...

Thanks for your support.

Last night

So, you may have heard by now that I'm no longer DJ-ing at the Salt Lounge. No time to dwell on that though...

Last night was my first Thursday at GT's, and it was great. The club was packed; lot's of dancing and partying. I got a really good response from a lot of people - thanks! People were especially digging a track I played by Tom Vek. I also spun a good 'Madchester' set with some Happy Mondays and Stone Roses, among others; and that got people swaying like Ian Brown. Sweet!

Anyway, if you're thinking about coming out to GT's on a Thursday night, keep in mind that they've got $2 domestic bottles of beer and $2 bar shots all night. That's gotta be the best deal in town! Oh, and I must say, the music's pretty good too.

See ya next week.
