Good music, etc.

I've come across a ton of good music lately that I would definitely recommend. I just wanted to pass it on, 'cause that's what you should do with good music - get it out there for everyone to hear!

There's a bunch of albums from 2005 that I've finally had a chance to listen to, and I have to say that a few of them would have been Top 10 List contenders, had I heard them last year. I've already mentioned Sufjan Stevens' 'Illinois', which gets better and better every time I listen to it. A friend recently gave me a copy of an album by Danish band Mew, called 'And The Glass Handed Kites'. It's outstanding! You'll definitely hear me spin tracks from that album if you're at the club on a Thursday.

Surprisingly, I never had a chance to listen to Broken Social Scene's self-titled album or Supergrass' 'Road To Rouen' until last week. I've now listened to them several times, and can safely say that they're great too, as is the double album from LCD Soundsystem. Instant dance party! My favourite of all these "albums from '05 that I'm hearing in '06" though, has to be Tom Vek's 'We Have Sound'. It's 40 minutes of funky, dancy, soulful tunes. There's a free download of the first single, 'I Ain't Saying My Goodbyes' here:
tinyurl.com/eqr9k. Yeah, you should go get that RIGHT NOW! You won't be disappointed.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention New Order's 'Waiting For The Sirens Call'. It's their first album since 2001, and well worth the wait. And I should also mention that the debut albums from Arctic Monkeys and We Are Scientists are now out; as is the new Cardigans album - and they're all great too.

Whew... so much good music!

I'm at the club on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Tuesday - import bottles stay at $3.75 all night. Thursday of course has $2 domestic bottles and $2 bar shots all night. As if you needed any other reason to come out and dance to good music!
